Diffusion from a source with constant concentration
This situation
is an idealization of dopant diffusion from highly-doped glasses such as BSG (boron silicate glass), PBSG (phosphorus boron silicate glass), PSG (phosphorus silicate glass) or
of the diffusion of dopants from a gas ambient. The shape of the profile
corresponds to a complementary error function.
